WHICH RATE’S RIGHT FOR YOU?

SONG RATE

We’ve just seen it happen too many times. An artist is in the studio, they are a couple takes away from getting something truly awesome recorded, but their time runs out. You shouldn’t have to compromise making a great recording because you need an extra hour. And for us, why would we want to have a bad sounding track in the world with BearTone’s name on it?

Typically, we can exquisitely track a songs in a day to a day and a half. Sometimes it takes 7 hours. Sometimes 10. As long as we all work hard, we don’t have to look at a clock and stress about budget and time! What we’ve found is that as long as everyone is working hard, it almost always comes to 8-12 hours.

It’s a matter of partnering together, believing in the process, and being transparent throughout. This is our preferred way of working.

BLOCK RATE

Sometimes, you just know you need more time. Maybe you have long songs. Maybe they’re intricate and you want time to explore sounds. In those instances, a block may be most ideal.

This is also the right option if you intend to take your session elsewhere to mix. We still will try to get recording done in the time-frame we note in the song rate, and will work within your budget.

READY tO BOOK SOME TIME?
We’re READY TO BOOK IT, TOO.

DEPOSIT POLICY

Our deposit policy is typically to reserve 1/4 of the rate fee at the time of booking. (For instance, a single song rate of $500 would have a deposit of $125.) This deposit reserves your slot at the studio, and guarantees our engineers & producers will update their calendars to be ready for you to record.

How often do we waive this deposit?

Look, we are pretty relaxed about these types of things. Just know that we are operating a small business and we are artists ourselves. When we book a session that gets abandoned, we rarely can immediately refill it. It is stressful and makes it extremely difficult for us to continue to be lenient about our deposit policy.

The biggest policy is really don’t be a jerk.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Real life happens. Career things pop up. There are human emergencies. Pets and children are unpredictable.

While it is no doubt inconvenient, if real life interferes with a schedule, we will not financially ding an artist and will work with you to re-schedule. It is helpful to keep in contact with us if you anticipate disruptions, and communicate changes as early as possible. We will do the same. Just like our deposit policy, don’t be a jerk and we will return the favor.

In our 15 years of operating a studio, we have never once had to issue a refund. We are always willing to work with an artist within reason to ensure they are happy with the product for which they are paying. Throughout the process, we will encourage you to be forthright with feedback and partner with us to make your record.

This is our polite way of saying we don’t really do refunds.
